Our curriculum was written by Ernie and Mary Batson, with their 30+ years of experience working with young children of all abilities, and a combined three Master's Degrees in various fields of education. With this vast accumulation of knowledge, they created the curriculum and teaching methods we use daily.
For Math-- we stick to the basics. Number/shapes, counting, pattern recognition, and addition/subtraction are our main focus. When all else fails, we resort to putting calculators, measuring sticks, number cards, dice, and other mathematical tools out and simply letting our students play with the material.
For Science--we believe that children are the true scientists of the world; always exploring and looking to expand their knowledge. We encourage our students to use all their senses to investigate the world around them. During our science-focused time, we harness in on growing their observation, classification, inferential, and predictive skills while using scientific tools such as magnifying glasses, scales, pipettes, and more!
For Literacy-- this piece happens constantly, all throughout our day while our students are exposed to oral and written language through having conversations with one another, reading stories, writing, and playing!
At Little Lab, we firmly believe that children learn all day long, meaning that any and every moment is a teachable one. We lead with curiosity and want to instill a passion in learning in each of our students.
