Meet the Owners...
Ernie and Mary Batson are the owners and creative forces behind Little Lab Preschool. Ernie has his Undergraduate Degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University and his Masters' Degrees are in Early Childhood and Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Mary has her Undergraduate Degree in Developmental Psychology from University of Maryland Baltimore Campus and her Masters' Degree in Reading Progress Management from The George Washington University.
In addition to all this education, they have learned so much just by working with children, observing how they learn, and listening to them. When you put all this together, they have come up with The Ernie and Mary Way of teaching, curriculum development, and training other teachers. While Mary is no longer involved in the day-to-day operations, she makes guest appearances because she just needs some kid time. |
We care about learning!
Ernie and Mary have developed the Little Lab Curriculum based on their vast experiences and education in early childhood learning. They believe Science and Math are great ways for children to learn about their world, explore, and make discoveries. The Literacy piece is always present as children talk about what they see and do, draw pictures of their discoveries, or “write” about their learning in a journal. Every day children at Little Lab Preschool will engage in activities that explore and explain their world. Play will also be a big piece of the curriculum because, after all, play is a child’s work.
